how life can turn

Firstly, here is my cat Bella, I just really liked the colours in these photos and how cute she looked!

Secondly, there are my polaroids, out of eight only six turned out and the coloured ones are from a few years ago before the film was unavailable. I still have another pack of coloured film from the Impossible Project.

Thirdly, I was so bored today that I took some photos outside with this great chair my grandpa made. I currently don't have a job so this is how I have been spending my time haha.

sidenote: ONE month until mine and Thalia's month long road trip to Eastern Canada!

graveyard

we went on an Easter family outing to a pioneer graveyard this afternoon. It was so beautiful out too! Some of the graves were quite sad, whole families, or all their children. The oldest one I saw was 1836 but there were some that were super worn out and you couldn't read them. I would like to have a picnic in this graveyard someday. There are some more photos on my flickr

Being home

Purchased some books from Chapters
1) Franny and Zooey by J.D Salinger
2) Walden by Thoreau
3)Irma Voth by Miriam Toews (my fav author)
I'm so excited to read books that are not text books or do not require any deep analysis.

also note my cooking attempts:

Attempt at stir fry, this was actually fairly successful and tasty
Omelet fail, turned out looking more like scrambled eggs, still tasted good though haha

e e cummings

For a couple of minutes
the fire works exploded
over our heads
the reflection rippled over the water
it eased my mind
to feel the heat of your body
beside mine
not even e e cummings
could have said 'I love you'
better then your eyes

side note: I wrote this poem in five minutes in my agenda while procrastinating from studying. (as I am doing right now)

Here's an e e cummings poem. I love him

We sat in the car
& the night dropped
down until the
only sounds were
the crickets &
the dance of our voices

& for a moment
the world became
small enough to
roll back & forth
between us.

Pen Pals

I've been trying to tidy up my room lately and I found a box of super old childhood letters
from my many pen pals. Some of them were quite cute and funny.

Apparently I ignored my friend Laura at my 7th birthday party.
My brother is pesty? Why yes I did know that.
I like your bike.

Thoreau

I watched Into The Wild a few nights ago and was thus inspired to look up some Thoreau quotes.
(I definitely plan on reading his book 'Walden' when I am done with all this exam crap)
anyway here are some that I really liked. These also get me super stoked for the road trip I will be taking into the great sublime aka East Coast.

I have never found a companion that was so companionable as solitude. We are for the most part more lonely when we go abroad among men than when we stay in our chambers. A man thinking or working is always alone, let him be where he will

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.

How can any man be weak who dares to be at all?

How vain it is to sit down to write when you have not stood up to live.

Do what you love. Know your own bone; gnaw at it, bury it, unearth it, and gnaw it still.

In wilderness is the preservation of the world.

Be not simply good, be good for something.

Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves.

Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth.

The bluebird carries the sky on his back.

The universe is wider than our views of it.

Things do not change; we change.

There is no remedy for love but to love more.

Wealth is the ability to fully experience life.

When I hear music, I fear no danger. I am invulnerable. I see no foe. I am related to the earliest times, and to the latest.

You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment.

To be awake is to be alive

there are sosososo many more...

Satisfaction

being home is so wonderful. Even though I still have three exams to write.
Here are my wonderful CATS :)
Oh and I got my poloariod film in the mail so I took some shots with that today. It actually worked better then I had expected because when I did some reading online people had been having some difficulty with the Impossible film.

My dad is an artist!

He is also rather sleepy

Grief

I shook you out
like an old bed sheet
I saw your smirk in photographs
your shadow under the bed
your laughter
it was too much
So I shook you
out of my head
