Family

Brother, father, mother
are such nice words
they slide of my tongue
slippery, smooth and sweet
Great wide strides of growing up
press childhood into the shadows
now we stand eye to eye
your eyes the same as my eyes
I see reflections of rough and tumble, laughter,
lightening bugs, woods and walks
we smile, thankful at the wholeness of us
